G. Morgan Becker - Jan 12, 2006 - 06:27:55 Dade City, Florida [USA] On December 1ST, 2005, my wife Joan, and I, took ownership of a 13 month old male needing another home. This animal was intended to be a companion dog for a 154 lb female Kangal dog that had become depressed over the death of our male Kangal dog. Within a few weeks we have discovered the wonderful nature and keen intelligence of "Beowulf," weighing in at 95 lbs. He seemed big enough to deal with “Kismet,” and after a brief dispute over who was the top dog, they are getting along fine and Kismet’s spirits are up and she is active again. Each day we discover new and exciting things about this dog. He patrols our fenced property, has a sound and fierce bark, stands by all of our outside work, seeming completely interested in whatever we are doing. He alerts us to any unusual goings on outside the perimeter of his range and has more than fulfilled our expectations. Without any doubt we are thrilled and very proud to have this exceptional dog. His desire to please us is more than note worthy. Additionally, we have observed him, nose to nose, through a fence, attempting to make friends with our two standard donkey’s “Bob” and “Jack.” They initially appeared to be jealous of him. So far so good... It is only our two cats, “Leo” and “Rufus” who are not too happy about our Great Pyrenees.

marykaynaber - Jan 8, 2006 - 4:28:50 winterset, iowa [usa] wrote a note the other day about my dog, bandit. i'd just like to add a few more interesting stories. i live in the country and while i am gone bandit lays in the middle of the driveway so no one can get in our yard until he decides to get up. my neighbors have even said they know when i am gone. the minute i open my car door he is there with his face close to mine, but never climbs in the car. i also have the old man, oliver, who is a 13 year old english spaniel, and the two of them play and run together. i think that bandit keeps oliver young. sometimes bandit does not want oliver to come back in the house, so he will just put his big paw on olivers back, and sometimes blocks his path to the backdoor. i would really like to have another great pyrenees, preferably a female so we could have pups and introduce more people to the wonderful nature of the breed.
Robert and Kellice Cooksey - Jan 8, 2006 - 1:45:26 Ft. Drum, NY. [U.S.A.] We just got our 8 month old pyr about 5 days ago. Already, if he thinks the kids are crying he runs to them to make sure they are ok. He walks around the house at night between all of the rooms checking on all 3 kids and the 2 of us about every 20 minutes before he comes back and lays with us in our bed. If either of us leave the room he has to follow, if one of us leave the house he throws a fit and runs all over looking for the one that left. I just cant believe how fast he became attached to us and how fast we became attached to him. He is by far the best pet I have ever had.
Dawn - Jan 8, 2006 - 11:02:48 Charlotte I had a Great Pyrenees and he past away a few months ago from a blood disorder that caused him not to clot blood. He was definately a wonderful dog. He was my first pyrenees and i did not know about the breed prior to him. Well, i will agree with everyone that says "once you own a pyrenees, you will never own another breed" That is the truth!! I loved everything about him that I had to get another one. I just got my second one and he is now 3 1/2 months old and he is just as wonderful!! There is nothing i would change about the breed!
marykay naber - Jan 5, 2006 - 11:18:54 winterset iowa [usa] i have had my great pyrenees for 1 year. i got him as a puppy and it has been great watching him grow into a dog. he is still not there yet, but his hair is starting to really come in around his head. his name is bandit, for when he was a puppy he had a mask around his eyes. that has disappeared but he will always be bandit.
Leslei Mullins - Jan 1, 2006 - 3:05:27 Buckhorn [USA] I have had my Pyr - Kramer for little more than a year now and I have to say that he is a great guard dog. I am a single mother and he takes very good care of his owner, which I guess you could say would be my 5 year old.

alida - Dec 20, 2005 - 11:20:10 Fort Qu'Appelle [Canada] I have a 6 mos old Pyr and he is an amazing pet and he is great with kids. I enjoy looking at websites like yours to learn more about him.
william hare - Dec 19, 2005 - 6:14:40 chester south carolina [usa] You have a wonderful site. I was just looking for alittle history on the breed as I recently acquired a female pup. Many people in my part of the world raise goats as a hobby or as meat for the Mexican immigrants. The Great Pyr is fairly common here and used as a working dog. Thank you for the short history on the breed. I really had thought the breed originated in Spain and not France by way of Asia. Interesting.
Maria Sesma Sooy - Dec 18, 2005 - 0:22:35 Burbank, California [USA/EEUU] I loved your site. I am currently without a Pyrenees, but was "raised" by Pyrs. My parents still have Pyrs. The first one came to us in 1967. There is no other dog to have, they are perfect.
DeAnn C. Fox - Dec 17, 2005 - 11:45:15 Omaha, NE 68144 [USA] We just purchased a Pyr/Rott mix from the Humane Society. He is 4 months old and an absolute doll! He has already become great friends with our 2 year old Lab mix. We have a huge fenced yard so they are having fun romping and playing.
