Jan 2, 2002 - 6:22:51 Galloway, Ohio [USA] I love my Great Pyrenees. The breed is so loving and gentle. My Rakishi is 116lbs and will be two years old on 4/14/02. I had never heard of the breed until 3yrs ago when I went to a Pet Expo and laid my eyes upon the most beautiful white dog I had ever seen. I love hearing all the wonderful comments about his beauty. And of course, my Pyr is the prettiest! I'm prejudice of course. |

Dec 29, 2001 - 11:05:26 vancouver island [canada] just getting my pyr fix. We own a 5 year old female. She was rescued from a puppy mill situation at around 9 months old, we got her at 11 months old. She's come a long ways. She's the most dedicated dog we've ever had. She also thinks she's a lap dog. :) She's definitly taught us a few things. Like pay attention to her barks, and read her barks. Now I know which bark I want to investigate right away. She's our first pyr, so it's been a learning process for us all. Lovely bred. Great web site. Thanks |

1:14:43 Hampstead, MD [USA] We currently own a 4 yr. old Male Pry, named "Wally", that we adopted from a Rescue center. He had been at the rescue for quite some time because no one wanted him. He is very large (160 pounds) and his tongue always hangs out of his mouth. Somewhere along the line someone broke his jaw and never had it fixed, so it mended crooked. He is the best dog that you could ask for. He was approx 2 1/2 when we got him and he immedialty loved our other animals (another dog, 2 cats and an African Grey Parrot). This is the 2nd Pry we have owned. Our first one had to be put down due to having "Chronic Kidney Failure". When we lost our first one, we knew we would get another one. |

Dauphinee - Dec 13, 2001 - 8:25:05 Saginaw [USA] We acquired two pyrs 7 years ago. Sophie from the Eastern Shore of Maryland at eight weeks of age and Titan as a rescue from Minneapolis at five months of age. They were best friends to each other and to us and Sophie helped Titan escape his first five months. We had to put Sophie to sleep three months after no longer being able to control her pain from osteosarcoma. We miss her terribly but Titan misses her even more. We wanted to get another puppy from the breeders we got Sophie from but they are no longer at the address/number we have. We are hoping to find another lovable, secure female puppy to love our new baby and to save Titan from his depression. |

I had Hannibal for 3 years before I rescued Haley. Their personnalities are so easy going. People at our dog park get so excited when they see the two of them actually playing. Ritz - Dec 5, 2001 - 6:46:21 Waco [USA] I rescued two Grt Pyrn brothers 4 years ago-they were basically abandoned at 6 mos old. The were twins and I could not tell them apart-one had a blue collar and the other a green collar-so their name became Blue and Green. At the time I had two other dogs (females) and the "boys" began to fight for the Alpha dog position. I found a rancher to take one and kept the other ( I let them choose- it was awful, like giving away a baby-my husband and I cried for 2 weeks). Green has been with us ever since and is the greatest. He co-exist with my other dogs and 7 cats, three which like to sleep in his fur and share his dinner. I am currently awaiting a rescued female Great Pyrenese from the Texas Great Pyr. Rescue who needs a home in the country. I love these dogs! |

Hamal - Dec 5, 2001 - 04:05:24 Hoeselt [Belgium] At this moment I'm the proud owner of a Newfoundland dog named Kelsey. My boyfriend and I are great doglovers. His parents own a Sint Bernard (named Beethoven) So it's clear that we prefer the larger breeds! Currently we decided that when we are going to live together, we would love to get a Great Pyrenees. I can already imagin my big black Kelsey (not one white hair!) playing with her new white friend Junior! Yes, we do have a name already! Greetings |

Groetjes |

Steffen - Nov 29, 2001 - 5:52:44 Kernersville, NC [USA] I have two of the most wonderful Great Pyr's on the face of the earth!! They are the absolute loves of my life. But unfortunately at this time I am dealing with congestive heart failure of my 10 year old male, Moose! He came to me when he was a stray and about 2 years old. Due to a sever heart murmur I was told that I probably wouldn't have him more that a year or two. Well, we've beat those odds but now our backs are against the wall and my heart is breaking. Moose is on med's and has good days and has bad days but he's fighting to stay with me as long as he can. Belle, my female is the sweetest and most gentle soul. She came to live with me when she was 5 years old, 3 years ago. She had a very rough life before that. She stays by Moose's side constantly now as she senses something is wrong. I really think that only people that have been loved by Pyrs can understand how I feel right now. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. |

Beal - Nov 20, 2001 - 09:04:22 Tucson [USA] We just got a 9-week old puppy. Were told that it was a lab-aussie mix, but with 1 blue eye, 1 brown eye and is an offwhite color with a very lite tan mask around face. When I saw the size of her front paws, I thought she looked like she'd be big. I've learned recently, that she may well have some Great Pyrenees in her (the foster parent owns a Great Pyrenese). What help can you give me in determining if she does carry more of the Great Pyrenese genes/traits as opposed to the other mixes she has in her. |
