Timothy Wallenmeyer - Jul 13 1998 - 18.59 Gaithersburg Maryland My Wife an I have a 3 1/2 year old Pyr. He is truly a beautiful dog. His name is Kodiak. I got Kodiak when he was 8 weeks old. He was the only one in the litter who was all white. He is now 110 lbs. and has learned now to share our attention with our new baby daughter who is now 5 months old. At first Kodiak wanted all our attention when we brought her home---he would not leave us alone. Now he protects our daughter and loves her very much in his gentle way. Kodiak is best known for running after deer when we take him for walks in the woods. he will leave us then come back to us in 5-30 minutes. of coarse when he first did this we tried to follow him----of coarse we couldn't keep up.we finally found him next to our car waiting for us. Kodiak is truly a loved member of our family.
Juan Orvañanos - Jul 13 1998 - 03.50 México City México City I`m a great dog lover, my wife wasn`t, until she knew Lucas, a great pyrenees white puppy. I bought Lucas without telling her anything, so as you can understand it was a "great white surprise" . She told me that I was crazy "How could you bring this dog to our apartment?... yes we live in an apartment, but Lucas has plenty of exercise when we go out to walk together. At the age of 8 months he went out one day with his instructor and got hit by a car. He was in very bad shape, for our fortune he amazingly got recovered after 48 hours of suffer. It was a miracle! Now Lucas is 1 year old and he is very happy and completely recovered, my wife loves him a lot and so do I. We have spent almost daily a lot of fun and relaxing walks together. Lucas is a great and smart friend, strong of heart and body, and always willing to give us all of his love and kisses.
jayne howard - Jul 12 1998 - 18.35 Bowmanville Ontario My Great Boy called Pyper is a pound rescue, 3years old and now at about 130lbs. It was instant love when are eyes met and i have never looked back since.
Jeanne Judge - Jul 12 1998 - 02.00 IL My mother raises great prenees. Her litters are so adorable. I wish I had room for one. She is always on the lookout for new bloodline. All her dogs are loveable and they guard the sheep so well. I have never seen a breed of dog like this. They can be so loveable and yet protect to the death.
Breeze - Jul 11 1998 - 23.55 San Diego California Long time admirer of the Pyrenese, I finally purchased one as a gift to myself *BIG GRIN* Snowblitzes Sir James. He is much loved by our family and a bit shy with people though. I have had LOTS of dogs (curretnly have a rottweiler mix too) but none this big! I have him eating Iams BIG dogs puppy food. He has bandit markings.... Any comments or suggestions for maintaining his health and coat are appreciated. I dont feel he is show quality and plan to have him neutered at 6 mths.... although I have had a couple of owners make offers to breed him to their bitches. All in all I am just a happy gal who loves her monster pup James :) (born 2-25-98) Feel free to email me! lady Breeze
cheryl Braam - Jul 10 1998 - 22.49 Mason Ohio My husband ,Lee, and I have one great pyr. He is 3 years old and believe it or not we got him through the SPCA. A truck driver had he and his brother until they were four months old, decided they were getting too big, and put them up for adoption. What a lucky day for us!! He is a joy and a wonderful family member!!
nicole flavin - Jul 10 1998 - 17.09 temporarily in new york (yuck) my jake and i have travelled far across the u.s. from new mexico to washington d.c. and now to new york. i grew up in connecticut and don't really want to live in new york but i have a really good job and jake tells me he doesn't mind it so much, so i shouldn't worry. i know he misses the farm and the horses and the wide open spaces, though. i love my jakes with all my heart and even got my boyfirend hooked-he wants to get another one, but no one can be as cute as jakes. he's as obstinate as i can be and as protective as a big brother. especially when he's off leash in the mountains or the woods. he's also a momma's boy and docile as a bunny-it makes me laugh when people are frightened by him! i hope more people discover the wonders of this breed!
Susan Johnson - Jul 9 1998 - 20.18 Springfield Illinois Our G'pyr Wendy is the most wonderful dog. She will be 11 on Aug 2, 1998. She is a wonderful watchdog and protector, yet she is so loving and gentle with my other non-purebred dogs and all of our cats. She accepts all other friends dogs that come to visit and all other cats. She barks like crazy at the deer and turkeys that come into the woods and especially at the coyotes, which have never come close enough to bother us. I'm sure it is because of her. We love her dearly, and hope she'll be around for many more years. I'm so glad you have a site dedicated to such wonderful companions.
Morgan Farrell - Jul 9 1998 - 08.59 St. Maries Idaho Just bought a mth old pup for sheep, goat and duck protection.
lee ann dalton - Jul 8 1998 - 00.52 knoxville tn I just got a great pyr from an animal shelter, he was an accident that happened between a great pyr and a siberian husky, so the breeder brought him in. Even mixed, he is a sweet puppy and will be a gorgeous dog. Already spoiled rotten after three days, thanks to my husband. We will be getting more of these beautiful dogs! It was browsing through websites such as yours that my husband got the urge to get a pyr, I had seen them before. Now he's hooked.
Pat Law - Jul 7 1998 - 20.47 Winnipeg manitoba eh! How's it goin' eh? Hi! I am so glad to find you all. I have a big boy named Cutter, he is just a year old. Cutter is my second pyr. I had a 4 year old female named "Cookie" she was a runner! Cookie and my akita/lab cross took off around 3 months ago and I haven't seen them since! We live in the country and I am almost certain they both met an untimely demize but a farmer. I now have a very lonely guy my three cats just don't cut it with him. A friend has a Jack Russel who he loves but they don't get together enough. I was not told about the barking or about the fact that they "at least mine", don't listen once they are loose. If this is a common problem I would like to see breeder be honest enough and let people know of this and ensure that the purchases do indeed have a fenced yard. To me this would ensure a sincere animal lover and the well being of the puppies sold. Some people who go in blind may be so overwhelmed by some of the traits that they may get frustrated and give up on the animal. Don't get me wrong I love this breed with a passion but I do see alot of people in distress along with thier pets. I would love replies!! a pyrpal

Peggy O'Neill - Jul 3 1998 - 02.16 Olympia WA It is so great to see this website! "Bear" lives with my husband and I and we just love him! He was in the Animal Shelter for three months and I met him there while volunteering. We think that he may be mixed, since he has some yellow shading to his back fur.

Judith Wagner - Jun 28 1998 - 22.21 Knoxville Tennessee In 1989, we noticed a large, beautiful white dog in a field as we drove home and stopped to ask about her. She was Misha, and was soon joined by King (the biggest dog I ever saw). Together they became the parents of my first GP, Sophie, lovely girl with cream ears and the most beguiling eyes in the world. Sophie is seven now, getting to be an old girl, but still the boss. Just ask my Old English, Bobby. They're occasionally joined by GPs rescued from the local 'shelter.' Wonderful breed, and the very best of friends.
Bruce Anderson - Jun 23 1998 - 15.01 Batavia IL Winter is my first Pyr. She is 6 Mos. old and already is bigger than my Golden Retriever.
Dan and Joyce Smith - Jun 21 1998 - 04.26 Donnelly Idaho We live in the northern Idaho mountains. We have a 14 mo. old Great Pyrenees named Shepp. I used to raise Afghans and shelter retired racing greyhounds. When we moved to the mountains 2 years ago, we did,nt have a dog, and wanted one to fill the void, as we are in our 40's, and do not have kids. A friend gave us a puppy for money owed, and I must admit, I am amazed at how great these dogs really are. Shepp is extremely intelligent, lovable, and an exellent watch dog. I am a Deputy Sheriff and plan on training him for mountain search and rescues. I would highly recommend anyone interested in the large dog breeds to look at this breed before committing. He is an excellent house dog, exept for the shedding, but would rather stay outside. He was housebroke in 1 week, leash trained in 2 days, and only barks when somethings amiss, and eats very little, but is still a healthy 110 pounds. I am very proud of this dog, as if you cant tell. Yours Truly: Dan Smith
Ben Ezell - Jun 20 1998 - 19.49 Denton TX Love the site. We adopted a 1yr male last yr. We read all we could before selecting this breed and weren't sure what we would get with this adoption. What we got was a best friend. Pumba (named b/c he loves to cool of in the dirt and eats bugs off the windows) has been such a wonderful companion. We are now getting a female from a local show/pet breeder from excellent lines. We have met and fallen in love with both of her parents. We are so excited! I will not be without a pyr again.
Jodi Warker - Jun 19 1998 - 22.26 pottstown pa My husband and I are considering adopting a puppy. We were really considering a Great Pyr. Dogs have always been a part of my life until the last 4 years...but my husband has never had a pet. Any suggestions for or against a Pyr??? I know what to expect my babies have always been of the large "working " group, but I'm not sure how he'll react.
Terri and Gary Ascolese - Jun 19 1998 - 19.55 Warren NJ We have a 4 year old badger male named Jake. He is extremely sociable and lovable. He wandered out of our yard one day and we thought we had lost him. We searched the neighborhood for him and he did not turn up. We returned home and a kind woman was holding Jake's collar and walking towards our home. A stranger, she lived a few houses down the road. She was working in her garden and had left her kitchen door wide open. Jake strolled over to her house, walked in, and sat down in her kitchen. Well, she finished her gardening and walked in the house for a glass of water, and to her surprise found Jake.....all 110 pounds of him in her kitchen! Lucky for everyone she is a dog-lover - so she and Jake sat and talked - and cookies were probably given out - and then she walked Jake home. We do not know of another animal as lovable or as sociable as our Great Pyrenees.
Kim Olson - Jun 19 1998 - 07.36 Washington I own a Great Pyrenees named Lady Stetson. She is 1 year and 3 months old. I really love her, she is a GREAT dog. I love seeing other people's dogs. Nice site, I really enjoyed it. http://home1.gte.net/oly4/kim

Alex Hope - Jun 18 1998 - 18.48 colon ne I have a great pyranees that is four years old. I plan on taking him to the fair and enter the 4-H show with him this year. He is a pretty good dog but he is very afraid of thunder and lightning. Does anyone have suggestions on how to help me with this problem? I have no screen doors left! Thanks.
David Oberlander - Jun 17 1998 - 19.00 Richardson TX I "kind of rescued' "Shep" my 5 or 5 1/2 yr. male GP. A transient cabin renter near our North TX weekend property gave him to me over 2 yrs ago. Shep is a perfect companion and settled well into his surburban life, with daily walks on leash (and frequent squirrel and rabbitt chases!) Since I care for my wife who has chronic progessive MS, Shep helps me by staying close to her wheelchair at meals to snatch the occasional crumb which may fall!! He is always gentle, and never in her way--loves all home visitors we invite and is friendly to everyone passing on the walks and parkway trails, especially children. I included this great website as a "Top 10" favorite in my personal HomePage. http://members.delphi.com/obiedh

Kathy Bliss - Jun 13 1998 - 20.37 Wallis Tx We just got our "pyr" in May, his name is Klondyke and he now 16 weeks. I love him and would NEVER give him up, but I am worried that his guarding is not what it should be, will he grow into that? He loves our male golden retriever to the point I can not seprate them. Everything is a game to him right now. I would like to get a female and have puppies. I am going to start him in puppy classes. Enjoyed reading every ones thoughts.

Erica and Anna-Lisa E.Kathryn and A-L Palmquist - Jun 10 1998 - 02.50 albion Pennsylvania Our 2 whites - Maggie and Koko came as foster sisters - family going thru divorce - painfully allowed them to stay with us in country. Life never the same since. Our girls joined 8 other sibs- 2 Chows, 4 Old English and 2 blends of the world. We love to watch them settled in the winter snow - faced towards wind and huge smiles on their faces - being outside is what they love - that and anywhere on my body. I travel a lot and maggie always greets me with a full body attack and just this past week - tried to fit her 120 pounds into a travel suitcase. We love them.

Emily Hainsworth - Jun 4 1998 - 22.19 Castle Rock Colorado My fiance and I have adopted two great pyrenees sisters recently. We named them Belle and Zuni. Zuni was unfortunately diagnosed with a severe osteosarcoma cancer in her right side. It was removed and she had to undergo many frustrating chemotherapy treatments. I am happy to say that both Belle and Zuni just turned two years old this February and Zuni is doing wonderfully. We have all gotten to know and love one another dearly, and I will always hold a special place in my heart for this large, gentle, magnificent breed.

| Robin King - May 27 1998 - 18:49:36 Weatherford, TX, USA Hello. Just checking out some info IRT pyrenees. We are considering the pyrenees to protect our livestock and home, as well as be a loyal and protective pet and an addition to our family. Just now learning about them. | Kaemi & Michael Tait - May 27 1998 - 12:28 Brisbane , Australia Our dog's name is Yamato and he is our 90kg bundle of fun. It is hard to find a suitable collar for him so we had to get a calf collar from the produce shop. It is the only one that will go around his neck. |
Debi - May 27 1998 - 04:09 Ft. Lauderdale, FL Ever since I can remember have always been interested in the breed. Two years ago this coming July we boughtour first Pyr when he was 11 weeks old. His name is Samson and he was two years old in April. What a wonderful, loving and smartdog he is. We just love him to death. We have three other dogs (not Pyrs) who we rescued from certaindemise who are his playmates. We have taken him in the show ring several times however, he is not of great show quality except to us. But it was a wonderful learning experience and we met lots of Pyrs. We have made many Pyr friends of which have several champions and will be breeding this summer. It is our intention to get another Pyr from one of their litters and then back to the show ring we will go. Can't say enough about this breed, they are extraordinary and wonderful....
Tracy Murphy - May 26 1998 - 22:23 Orange County California Hi, my name is Tracy. I fell in love with the Great Pyrenees recently and would like to have as much information on them as possible. I am currently reading as much as I can find on the breed which is limited and would like to be put in touch with a breeder in my area if possible. My husband and I are seriously considering getting one by December when we move to our Ranch. Thanks in advance for any info supplied.
Julia M. Freeman - May 26 1998 - 19:44 Illinois Hi - I enjoy reading about everyone's love for this breed. I had never heard of a Great Pyrenees until about 4 years ago. We now have a 2 year old Female named Princess. She is such a joy to us. We are certain that she is deaf though. We were told this can be common in white animals. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, would love any suggestions on how to train a dog that cannot hear.
Janet Miller - May 24 1998 - 12:50:39 Atoka, TN 38004 I was hoping to adopt a Great Pyrenese that I meet yesterday her name is Snowball she is a 11 month old female and sweet as the day is long but due to her past she has abandonment issues and tears things up and would have to be kenneled when we worked I can't afford the kennel this next couple weeks so I may lose out on this dog it breaks my heart. But I have fallen in love with the breed in general. They are wonderful dogs...
Steve Jordan - May 23 1998 - 22:08 Kamuela, Hawaii Ursula...Thanks for the great site. This is my second try at signing guest book (last effort was sabotaged by the "preview entry" button followed by the "speed up your browser" button. Anyway. I'm in Hawaii and have recently lost by 8 year constant companion Bosco. I'm trying to locate breeders in Great Britain. Because of Hawaii quarantine laws, the only places I can bring puppies in from is the UK or Australia. I could never put a puppy through quarantine. If you or any of your readers could put me in touch with breeders in either location I'd be very very grateful. Thanks so Much. Steve Jordan.
Jessi Jackson - May 21 1998 - 19:34 Spokane, Washington USA I have two wonderful Pyrs. Both were rescues of a sort. The first one we got is a Male "Senior Rambo Blanco". The man we got him from was out of work and had been for quite some time. Unfortunately they were both close to starvation. We fed them both, gave the man money to continue onto Alaska. He was promised a job if he could get there. So he left Rambo with us, papers and all. With a promise that we would take good care of him. We love Rambo dearly and are very thankful to that man, who gave us much more than we could ever give him. Rambo is a part of our family and all the neices and nephews simply adore him. The second one we got was a female "Maggie". Her owner was a very nice lady who has five small children. The husband of the family was affraid of large dogs. He wouldn't let the children play with Maggie for fear that she would hurt them. Also she barked all night long every night. The husband wanted his wife to get rid of the dog because he could not sleep at night. So thankfully she gave Maggi

Nancy - May 20 1998 - 16:27 Upstate New York USA Hello Everyone,I'm writing for a friend who does not have access to the internet. She is a Great Pyr breeder in Upstate, NY. She has a 6 year old male named Indi who she is looking to place in a loving home. If anyone out there is interested please e-mail me and I'll see she gets the message. He is free to the right home except if shipping costs are involved. If this isn't the right place to post this I'm sorry but I'm new to all of this. I also am a Gr. Pyr lover althought I breed Newfs. Thanks everyone. Nancy
Barb - May 20 1998 - 02:50 Whitby, Ontario, Canada When our 13 year old lab/shep died in January of this year we decided to start a computer search for a new dog that was not a young pup. I had a pyr when i was a child and always liked the breed so one of the many breeders that I left a message for was a Pyr breeder. We ended up with an 11 month old female that we call Daisy. She is the most wonderful and easy going of all dogs that I have ever come in contact with. The people that bought her as a pup had returned her to the breeder as she was just too much for them. She chewed and was wild. They both worked so I figured that being home all day I would be better able to deal with it. She has a huge run in the yard and she is doing great. We cant leave her alone in the house unsupervised or she would eat everything but I hear this is normal@!! She is 16 months now. We just found out that she is allergic to pollen. She got a big lump on her snout and her eyes were almost closed from the redness. The vet gave us expensive meds for 5 days and told us to keep her indoors until pollen season is over. This is really hard to do as she loves being out. If anyone knows of a homeopathic remedy to help her eyes I would love to hear of it. Barb

Bob McConnaha - May 18 1998 - 17.44 San Diego, CA.USA Have 2 kids: Mary and Joseph. Mary's 8.5yrs 97lbs has arthritus in hind knee but enjoys life. Joe is a" big babby. He's 16 months and 130lbs. He was a rescue pup. Both are fixed, I leave the breeding to the breeders. Although the climate here is warm and dry, they get along fine. I do have a question; Joe tore his Achiles tendon 2 months ago, after surgery and the cast came off he's walking better not flat footed (pawed). My question is if anyone knows how successful these repairs are? We are both eager to get back out to play.
Melojac Farm - May 16 1998 - 16.17 Texas - USA We have one male pyr and have just got a second. our male Bos when he was just one year old defended " his goats" from an attack by wild dogs. He dispatched two and drove the pack off. His instincts with the goats are unreal. We will always have goats so we will always have G Pyr's.
